Huawei’s upcoming Mate 90 Pro Max could have a special edition supporting a DSLR-style external camera that attaches to the back of the phone.
The accessory reportedly features a one-inch sensor and continuous optical zoom from 24mm to 240mm, providing native 1x–10x zoom. Unlike external telephoto lenses from other smartphone makers, it has its own camera sensor and moving optics, potentially delivering better low-light performance and natural background blur.
The main drawbacks could be its large, bulky design and high price, with one leak suggesting it could cost as much as a standard flagship smartphone. The Mate 90 series is expected to launch in China on October 1.
