Apple will disguise the Siri and Gemini partnership

Apple will reportedly pay Google about $1 billion a year to use a custom Gemini AI model for the next version of Siri, launching with iOS 26.4 next spring.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple won’t publicly mention Gemini’s role — internally, it calls the system AFM v10 (“Apple Foundation Model v10”) to mask the partnership. The model runs on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers to keep user data separate from Google.

The deal helps Apple speed up its delayed AI efforts, though the company still plans to eventually replace Gemini with its own trillion-parameter model.
