Helium Mobile’s once-popular free Zero Plan, which offered limited data, texts and calls at no cost, has now been discontinued for both new and existing subscribers despite earlier assurances that current users would not be affected.
The controversy deepened after Helium Mobile CEO Amir Haleem made and later deleted comments on Discord, describing some longtime users as seeking “free stuff” and comparing early adopters to “parasites.” Although he later attempted to clarify his remarks, the comments sparked backlash.
Combined with the company’s reversal on its promise to preserve the Zero Plan for existing customers, the situation has raised concerns about trust and transparency among subscribers.
