A new report from Mark Gurman suggests that Apple is preparing to add support for third-party wireless streaming protocols, such as Google Cast, in the upcoming iOS 27 update. Users may even be able to set these alternatives as the default option instead of AirPlay when streaming content from an iPhone to compatible speakers or TVs. The move is reportedly aimed at complying with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, though it remains unclear whether the feature will be limited to Europe or rolled out globally.
