Apple may lose billions in App Store commission battle

Apple may soon be forced to stop collecting commissions on purchases made through third-party payment platforms in the US.

A US court has ruled that Apple’s attempts to maintain commissions on alternative payments violate the intended outcome of the ruling. Apple had previously charged developers around 27%, plus payment processing fees, despite being required to allow alternative payment options.

In a new regulatory filing, Apple acknowledges that it may ultimately receive no commission from these transactions. The change could significantly reduce Apple’s Services revenue in the coming quarters and potentially affect the company’s valuation.
