Apple Watch Series 12 brings more accurate health tracking and new AI features

Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12 with a new Health Sensing System and S11 chip, delivering more frequent heart-rate and HRV measurements. Apple says it offers the most accurate heart-rate sensing of any wearable, while a new Readiness score combines activity, training load, vitals and sleep data to show how prepared users are for the day.

Battery life remains up to 24 hours, while outdoor workouts can last up to 10 hours. Faster charging provides up to 12 hours of additional battery life after just 15 minutes. The redesigned pedometer and new algorithms also improve step and distance tracking.

The S11 chip enables new Audio Intelligence features, including Sound Recognition, Live Rewind and Siri Recap. Live Rewind can show the previous 15 seconds of a conversation as text, while Siri Recap creates summaries of conversations. Apple says the features process audio securely and do not create or store audio recordings.

With watchOS 27, the watch also gains Siri AI with personal context understanding, a dynamic app grid, new one-handed gestures and smarter widget suggestions. The Series 12 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes, with aluminum, titanium and new ceramic finishes, and goes on sale September 18.
