Google is preparing a redesigned Google Messages interface that moves Gemini to the top of the screen while bringing Search down to the bottom for easier one-handed access.
The Start chat and Search buttons will dynamically expand or collapse depending on what you’re doing. When you open Messages, Start chat is expanded, but as you scroll through conversations, it collapses and Search expands in its place.
Google is also working on a revamped Search experience with improved filters, larger previews for images, videos and links, and a redesigned results page that separates chats from individual messages. The update is still in development and may eventually arrive alongside other changes, including a redesigned pinned-conversations interface.
