AT&T agrees to sell its Mexican mobile business for $2 billion

AT&T has agreed to sell AT&T Mexico to a consortium owned equally by Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash at closing, plus additional potential payments.

AT&T Mexico had approximately 24.7 million wireless subscribers at the end of 2025, making it the country’s second-largest mobile operator. The acquisition will allow Televisa to expand its existing fixed-line broadband business into mobile services.

AT&T entered Mexico in 2015 through acquisitions of Iusacell and Nextel Mexico. The sale reflects its strategy of focusing investments on growth opportunities in the US, particularly fiber and wireless networks.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approval. AT&T says the deal will not affect its US customers.
