Foldable smartphone display shipments are expected to rise 44% year over year to 29 million units in 2026, according to Omdia. The growth will be driven by wider-screen designs introduced by Samsung and Apple, offering improved multitasking, content consumption and productivity.
Wider-format displays are forecast to account for 44% of all foldable panels in 2026, exceeding 60% in 2027 as Chinese manufacturers adopt similar designs. Samsung Display is expected to strengthen its market leadership, reaching a 66% share by supplying displays for the Samsung Galaxy Fold8 and Apple iPhone Duo.
