YouTube adds safeguards against hacked accounts

YouTube is introducing new security measures to protect creators when suspicious activity suggests their accounts have been compromised. Affected accounts may temporarily lose access to livestreaming, custom thumbnails and certain playlist and video visibility features, while monetization and normal viewer access remain unaffected.

YouTube’s security team will review flagged accounts within 24 hours and provide owners with recovery instructions, an explanation of the issue and steps to secure their channels. The platform recommends using strong passwords and two-step verification to prevent account takeovers.
