Meta finalizing $15 billion investment in Scale AI

Meta is nearing a $15 billion deal to acquire a 49% stake in Scale AI, its largest-ever external investment, aiming to accelerate its pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Scale, which supplies training data to major AI players, is expected to double revenue to $2 billion in 2025. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is assembling a 50-person AGI team, with Scale CEO Alexandr Wang joining post-deal. The move comes as Meta looks to catch up with rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Microsoft, all of which have made major AI investments.
