A court in Rome has ruled that several past price hikes by Netflix in Italy were unlawful, potentially entitling affected subscribers to refunds and lower prices. The case, brought by Movimento Consumatori, found that Netflix failed to clearly explain future price changes in its contracts.
The ruling covers increases between 2017 and 2024, with some long-time Premium users possibly owed up to €500. Netflix now has 90 days to inform customers or face penalties, though the company is appealing the decision. The ruling applies only in Italy and does not affect subscribers elsewhere.
