Samsung has announced it will discontinue Samsung Messages in July 2026, urging users to switch to Google Messages for a more consistent Android experience. The shutdown may roll out gradually, with in-app notifications guiding users through the transition.
This move follows Samsung’s earlier shift in 2024 to make Google Messages the default on newer Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S26. However, devices running Android 11 or older will continue to support Samsung Messages.
