Doomscrolling problem? Android is here to help you

Google has introduced a new Digital Wellbeing feature called “Pause Point,” designed to help users spend less time endlessly scrolling through distracting apps like Instagram.

When opening a marked app, Android will pause for 10 seconds and encourage users to reflect before continuing. During the break, users can do breathing exercises, view favorite photos, set a timer or switch to alternative activities like audiobooks.

Google says disabling Pause Point will require restarting the phone, adding an extra layer of friction to help users stick to healthier habits. More Digital Wellbeing features are expected later this year.
