Metalenz has unveiled a breakthrough under-display face authentication system called Polar ID Under Display at Display Week.
Unlike previous attempts, the technology works beneath a fully active OLED screen with no notch or punch-hole, while maintaining high security – even for payments. It uses advanced metasurfaces to capture polarized light, enabling highly accurate face recognition with strong resistance to fraud.
This could solve a long-standing challenge faced by companies like Apple, which still relies on visible cutouts for Face ID. With Metalenz’s solution, Android manufacturers may soon deliver true full-screen smartphones without compromising security.
