Samsung is facing the biggest worker strike in its history

Samsung could face its largest-ever employee strike as around 48,000 workers threaten an 18-day walkout over bonus disputes. While Samsung’s memory division posted record Q1 sales thanks to the AI boom, employees in other chip businesses reportedly receive much smaller bonuses, causing tensions inside the company.

The union is demanding higher profit-sharing and the removal of Samsung’s bonus cap, while concerns grow that workers may leave for rival SK Hynix, which recently increased employee payouts. The strike could also impact South Korea’s economy if it extends beyond the planned 18 days.
