Microsoft is reportedly planning a new wave of layoffs affecting less than 2.5% of its approximately 228,000 employees, according to insider reports. The cuts are expected to impact several departments, with sales, consulting and the Xbox division among the most affected.
While Microsoft has not officially confirmed the layoffs, the move follows a broader trend across the tech industry, where companies are shifting spending toward AI infrastructure, data centers and advanced chips. Microsoft has also previously suggested that AI tools such as Copilot are reducing the need for certain roles.
