Motorola and Google are investigating an Android Auto issue affecting clamshell foldables such as the Motorola Razr and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
When the phone is folded, users are unable to make outgoing calls through Android Auto. Gemini may indicate that it is calling a contact, but the call never starts. Incoming calls are unaffected, and outgoing calls work normally when the phone is unfolded.
Reports suggest the issue appeared after Gemini replaced Google Assistant, but there is currently no confirmed fix.
