Apple has officially announced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. It features a square design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and unfolds into a larger, iPad-like display with support for running two apps side by side.
The Duo has an internal display Apple describes as “perceptually crease-free,” IP68 water and dust resistance, an under-display selfie camera, Apple Pencil support and MagSafe charging. It is powered by Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip and includes dual 48MP rear cameras and Touch ID built into the power button.
Apple promises all-day battery life and charging to 50% in 20 minutes. The phone also introduces Siri AI features that can understand what users are doing across apps, analyze what the camera sees and perform tasks such as drafting emails and creating calendar entries.
The iPhone Duo will be available in Star White and Night Sky with an aerospace titanium design. Pre-orders begin October 16, with sales starting October 23. Prices start at $2,000 for 256GB.
