After a 10-month pause, Google Wallet is rolling out support for Ohio driver’s licenses and state IDs on Android. Ohio becomes the 12th location supported by Google’s digital ID feature.
Setting up the ID requires photos of the physical card and a short face-verification video, with approval handled by the Ohio BMV. Once added, the digital ID can be presented using NFC or a QR code and can be used at some TSA airport checkpoints.
Google says the digital ID does not replace the requirement to carry a physical ID. It is also stored only on the user’s device rather than synced to the cloud.
