Huawei has unveiled the Mate XT2, its second-generation triple-folding smartphone, with a slimmer design, new colors and upgraded hardware. When fully unfolded, the device offers a 10.2-inch LTPO display with roughly 3.2K resolution and a refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. It can also be used in a book-style configuration or folded into a conventional 6.5-inch smartphone.
The Mate XT2 is powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, which the company claims delivers up to 46% higher CPU performance and 142% better GPU performance with ray tracing compared with the previous generation. The phone comes with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, while also supporting 5G and satellite communications.
The device is just 3.5mm thick when unfolded and 12.3mm when folded. Its camera system includes a 50MP main sensor, 40MP ultrawide and 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. A special edition also features a privacy display.
The Mate XT2 is currently available for pre-order in China, starting at around $2,980. Huawei has not yet announced international availability.
