Latin America’s smartphone market declined 12% year-over-year to 30.3 million units in Q2 2026, according to Omdia. Rising DRAM and NAND costs pushed up retail prices, hitting entry-level smartphones hardest, while mid-range and premium segments proved more resilient.
Samsung remained the region’s market leader, shipping 12 million units, up 9% YoY, and reaching a 39% market share. Xiaomi ranked second with 4.9 million units, down 27%, followed by Motorola with 4.4 million units, down 15%.
HONOR shipped 2 million units, down 32%, while TRANSSION took fifth place with a 6.4% share despite a 19% decline.
The biggest shift came at the lower end of the market: shipments of phones priced below $100 plunged 72%. Meanwhile, devices above $500 increased their share to 18% of total shipments and generated 51% of the region’s smartphone market value.
Omdia expects Latin America’s smartphone market to shrink 16% in 2026, with pressure likely to intensify in the second half as higher prices and rising memory costs continue to affect consumer demand.
