OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Astra, its latest flagship model with major improvements in software engineering, computer use and cybersecurity. It will begin rolling out to paid ChatGPT users and the API over the coming week.
Astra is the company’s first model to reach the “Critical” cybersecurity level, meaning it can potentially discover unknown vulnerabilities and develop exploits with limited human guidance. OpenAI says it is also more resistant to jailbreaks than GPT-5.6 Sol and has undergone additional safety monitoring.
OpenAI is not officially calling Astra AGI, but president Greg Brockman said that personally, he believes “we’re there.”
