Sony has started rolling out Android 17 to the Xperia 1 VIII, bringing several new features and Xperia-specific improvements. The update is around 1.2GB and is currently available in markets including the UK and Germany.
One of the biggest additions is Desktop mode, allowing the phone to connect to an external display and work with a keyboard and mouse in a PC-like interface. Sony is also adding more customization options, improved screen recording and enhanced Quick Settings.
The Xperia 1 VIII also gets new camera features, including the ability to save up to three custom camera looks. Sony currently lists five Xperia models eligible for Android 17: the Xperia 1 VIII, 1 VII, 1 VI, 10 VIII and 10 VII.
