TCL has unveiled its new P80 smartphone series, led by the P80 Ultra, the company’s first smartphone to combine NxtPaper technology with an AMOLED display. The 6.83-inch panel offers 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,200 nits of brightness, while TCL focuses heavily on reducing blue light and reflections for improved eye comfort.
The P80 Ultra is powered by the Dimensity 7400 Elite with 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage and a 5,800mAh battery with 45W charging. Its camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto and an 8MP ultrawide camera.
A dedicated NxtPaper button activates reading modes, including Max Ink, which limits notifications and background apps and can extend battery life for up to seven days of reading. AI features also include a tool that can convert e-books into narrated audio or podcast-style content.
The P80 Ultra starts at €550 for the 8GB/256GB model. TCL is also launching the P80 Pro with the same NxtPaper AMOLED display but without the periscope camera, while the standard P80 drops the NxtPaper technology for a lower price.
