Perplexity is introducing a local-first mode for its Mac app that runs AI models and agents directly on the device, including offline tasks. With permission, Computer can access local files and apps such as Notes, Messages, Mail and Numbers, while files are sent to the cloud only with user approval.
The feature supports Qwen 3.6 and PPLX Pro local models and is available to Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers. For the best experience, Apple silicon Macs with at least 36GB of unified memory are recommended.
