The FBI can’t get into New York City mayor´s phone

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, recently indicted on charges including fraud and bribery, told federal investigators he forgot his phone password before handing it over. The FBI has been unable to access his phone for nearly a year.

Adams claimed he changed the password after learning about the investigation to prevent staff from deleting its contents. Legally, he may not be required to provide the passcode due to Fifth Amendment protections. While the FBI has tools to unlock devices, accessing Adams’ phone could still be highly challenging.
