Apple and Samsung gain smartphone chip market share

Apple and Samsung were the only major smartphone chipmakers to increase their market share in Q3 2026, despite a 21% annual decline in global shipments. Apple grew from 17% to 21%, while Samsung rose from 6% to 8%. MediaTek remained the market leader with 28%, followed by Qualcomm at 22%.

Counterpoint Research expects smartphone chip shipments to fall another 20% in 2026, with rising memory prices continuing to put pressure on the industry.
