Meta has started laying off employees across departments, including WhatsApp, Instagram and Reality Labs, as part of team reorganizations. Some staff, like Jane Manchun Wong from the Threads team, have shared news of their layoffs. Meta’s spokesperson stated that these changes are aimed at aligning resources with long-term goals and relocating teams or employees where necessary. This follows previous layoffs, including 11,000 cuts in 2022 and 10,000 more in 2023, under CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s “year of efficiency” strategy.
