Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is still thicker than competitors

Google has introduced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, its most advanced foldable yet, priced from $1,799 with pre-orders open now and shipping October 9. It features an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner display (3,000 nits), a larger 6.4-inch outer display, and the new Tensor G5 chip, promising big boosts in AI performance, imaging, and efficiency.

Durability is a standout: it’s the first foldable with IP68 dust and water resistance, plus a stronger gearless hinge and re-engineered Ultra-Thin Glass rated for 10+ years of use. The phone also packs a 5,015mAh battery, with 30W fast charging and support for Qi2 wireless charging.

The triple rear cameras (48MP wide, 10.8MP telephoto 5x zoom, 10.5MP ultrawide) benefit from an upgraded ISP and new AI tools like Camera Coach, Auto Best Take, and Ask Photos. AI features extend to Magic Cue, Pixel Journal, Take a Message, and Voice Translate.

Available in Moonstone and Jade, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes with a free year of Google AI Pro and seven years of OS/security updates, setting a new benchmark for foldables in durability, AI, and long-term support.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold is thicker than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 (10.1mm vs. 8.9mm), the added bulk gives it a key advantage: IP68 water and dust resistance, making it the first foldable with full dust protection and submersion survival — far tougher than the Z Fold 7’s IP48 rating.

For longevity, Samsung still leads: the Z Fold 7’s display is rated for 500,000 folds, while Google promises 200,000+ folds (about 10 years at 50 folds a day). The Pixel 10 Pro Fold may not be the slimmest, but it’s the most durable foldable yet in terms of protection against the elements.
