A deal for TikTok’s US operations is nearing completion, with Oracle set to rebuild and secure a US-only version of TikTok’s algorithm.
Under the plan, American investors would own TikTok’s US arm, leasing the algorithm from ByteDance, while Oracle retrains it “from the ground up” and manages all US user data. ByteDance would have no access to either the servers or the new algorithm.
The compromise aims to address national security concerns, though retraining raises questions about the app’s recommendation quality. A final agreement could be announced soon, with Trump expected to approve it via executive order.
