Airbnb is once again activating its anti-party technology across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico for Halloween weekend, marking the fifth year of the program.
Using machine learning, the system screens entire-home bookings for signs of party risk — such as short stays, local guests, or last-minute reservations — and blocks high-risk attempts. In 2024, this technology prevented over 44,000 risky bookings and helped reduce global party reports by more than 50% since 2020.
Airbnb also reminds users that third-party bookings and underage stays are prohibited, with violations potentially leading to account bans and financial liability.
The company says this effort is part of a wider strategy to promote safe, responsible travel, including 24/7 support lines, neighborhood reporting tools, and host noise sensors.
