North Korea’s smartphones are heavily censored surveillance tools rather than real smart devices. In a new video, YouTuber MrWhosetheboss tests two smuggled phones and shows how the regime rewrites the entire OS to control citizens. Words like “South Korea” are blocked or replaced with propaganda terms, apps are fake or locked, and the phones connect only to a closed state intranet. Users can’t change settings, install apps freely or access real internet content. The devices also take automatic screenshots of every action, tag all files with government signatures and delete anything foreign. In North Korea, a “smartphone” is simply another tool for total state control.
