Samsung is giving Bixby a major upgrade with One UI 8.5, turning it into a more conversational assistant that can control device settings using natural language and answer complex questions via a new Perplexity integration. The update builds on existing natural-language search in Settings and allows Bixby to make changes from anywhere on the device. While Samsung has quietly removed its original announcement, the new Bixby is in beta now, will launch in select markets, and is expected to debut in stable form with the Galaxy S26 series – raising questions about Samsung’s future reliance on Google’s Gemini.
