According to the Sensor Tower State of Gaming 2026 report, mobile gaming in 2025 saw modest revenue growth despite massive engagement.
The App Store led with a record $52.5B in revenue, outperforming Google Play ($30B) and Steam ($11.7B) combined, though Steam recorded the fastest growth. Google Play dominated downloads with 42.4B installs, far ahead of the App Store’s 7.8B.
In terms of new releases, Google Play added about 150,000 games, compared to 55,300 on the App Store and 20,000 on Steam.
The year’s biggest winner was Roblox, with around 450 million monthly active users, making it the most popular game across multiple age groups and demographics in the US.
