Samsung may outsource OLED panels for Galaxy A and FE phone displays

Rising RAM prices are pushing smartphone makers to cut costs, and Samsung is no exception. Instead of raising prices, the company is reportedly sourcing cheaper OLED displays from China Star Optoelectronics Technology for upcoming mid-range Galaxy A and Fan Edition models.

These panels are said to be over 20% cheaper than those from Samsung Display, marking a shift away from Samsung’s usual in-house supply. While this move has caused internal tension, it highlights how rising memory costs are forcing Samsung to prioritize savings — even if it means using non-Samsung components in its phones.
