Apple reportedly considered acquiring Lux Optics, the developer behind the popular Halide camera app, as it looks to enhance pro-level camera features for future iPhones like the iPhone 18 Pro.
Although talks ended last year, Apple remains focused on improving its built-in camera software to match increasingly advanced hardware.
Meanwhile, Halide cofounder Sebastiaan de With has joined Apple’s design team, despite a messy split and lawsuit within Lux Optics.
