FCC bans imports of new foreign-made internet routers in the US

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has banned the sale and use of new foreign-made internet routers in the US, citing national security risks and potential supply chain vulnerabilities.

The ban applies only to newly produced devices – existing routers can still be used and approved products can still be sold. However, exceptions are possible, as the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies can approve devices if they pass security checks.

Manufacturers may also gain approval if they move production to the US.
