Android 17 stable is officially rolling out to Pixel 6 and later devices

Google has officially released Android 17 for Pixel 6 and newer devices, bringing a range of new features focused on multitasking, privacy, security and accessibility.

Key additions include App Bubbles for floating app windows, Screen Reactions for creating reaction videos with a built-in selfie overlay and enhanced location privacy with one-time precise location access and clearer tracking indicators. Android 17 also introduces a new Contacts Picker that lets users share only selected contacts with apps instead of granting full access.

Security improvements include stronger anti-theft protections, biometric locking for lost devices and tougher safeguards against PIN-guessing attacks. Other highlights include expanded dark mode controls, separate Assistant volume settings, built-in parental controls, improved gaming features, memory management enhancements and the option to hide app names on the home screen. Some features, such as Foldable Gaming Mode and Gemini-powered experiences, will arrive in future updates.
