iPhone discounts lift Apple to second place in China

China’s smartphone market declined 13% year over year during the China’s 618 shopping period despite major discounts. Apple saw the smallest drop among major brands, with iPhone sales down 9%, while Huawei was the only leading brand to grow, increasing sales by 19%. Counterpoint Research says rising memory costs and higher device prices limited promotions and weakened consumer demand.
