Apple reportedly considered launching a new, smaller Apple Pencil designed specifically for its upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra, but the accessory is unlikely to be announced with the phone.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the stylus would have been shorter than existing Apple Pencils and could magnetically attach to the iPhone for storage and charging. However, its side-mounted position could make it awkward to use and potentially leave marks on the foldable’s delicate inner display.
Apple may ultimately abandon the idea, partly because a stylus would go against Steve Jobs’ famous view that the iPhone doesn’t need one.
