Apple extends free satellite features for older iPhones

Apple is giving compatible older iPhones another year of free satellite connectivity. Devices dating back to the iPhone 14 series can continue using Emergency SOS, Messages, Find My and Roadside Assistance via satellite, provided they were activated before September 9, 2026.

This marks the third extension for the iPhone 14 lineup and the first for the iPhone 16 series. Apple still describes the service as a “free trial,” but has not revealed how much it will cost once the trial period ends.
