Apple appears to be preparing to expand its Car Key feature to three additional automakers: Lincoln, Freelander, and Lucid. References to the brands have been spotted in Apple’s backend code, although there is no indication yet of when support will launch or which vehicles will be compatible.
The discovery follows similar backend references for GWM’s Tank and Haval brands. Apple Car Key allows users to lock, unlock, and start compatible vehicles using an iPhone or Apple Watch, and currently supports more than 50 vehicle models from brands including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Toyota and Rivian.
