Google is making its SynthID Detector available worldwide in English, allowing anyone to check whether images, videos or audio were generated by AI from companies including Google, OpenAI, Nvidia and Kakao. Support for Apple’s AI-generated media is also coming soon.
The tool detects invisible SynthID watermarks embedded in AI-generated content. Google says it has already watermarked more than 180 billion images and videos, as well as 240,000 years of audio, since SynthID launched in 2023.
