A US judge has granted most of Apple’s requests for expedited discovery in its trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI, io Products and two former Apple employees. The defendants must provide forensic evidence, documents related to interviews with former Apple employees and certain private messages. Apple is also allowed to question the former employees and representatives from OpenAI and io Products under oath.
However, the judge rejected Apple’s request for early access to certain hardware research and development documents, leaving those for the standard discovery process. The case concerns Apple’s allegations that confidential product and technology information was improperly used to support OpenAI’s consumer hardware development.
