Many iPhone 16 Pro users are reporting issues with the touchscreen not responding to taps and swipes. The problem seems to be caused by a software bug related to iOS’s accidental touch rejection algorithm, which is overly sensitive and mistakenly ignores intended touches, especially when users accidentally touch the screen edges. The issue is more common when the phone is used without a case. The problem affects phones running iOS 18 and the iOS 18.1 beta, and it is expected that Apple will address this in a future software update.
