Waze is getting a major AI-powered update with new Gemini features designed to make navigation more personalized and intuitive. The app can now learn driving preferences, such as preferred routes and traffic patterns and provide more tailored recommendations.
Motorcycle mode is also being upgraded with AI, offering bike-specific routes, shortcuts and warnings about hazards like speed bumps, narrow bridges and road closures. The feature is rolling out in select countries.
Gemini-powered conversational reporting now allows users to report more types of road issues by voice, while AI recommendations can help find places based on detailed requests, such as a gas station with vegan coffee options. Waze is also adding a “less chatty” mode for drivers who prefer fewer notifications.
The new AI features are rolling out globally on both Android and iOS.
