OpenAI alleges that a former employee who recently returned to Apple sent more than 100 highly confidential files related to at least one unreleased OpenAI device to personal accounts on his final day at the company.
According to a new court filing, the files allegedly included device images, engineering and manufacturing data, supplier details and hardware specifications. OpenAI also claims the employee presented the company’s plans to Apple’s senior leadership.
Apple has denied having evidence to support the allegations, telling Reuters that it has policies to prevent new employees from using confidential information belonging to previous employers.
The dispute is part of an ongoing trade secrets lawsuit filed by Apple against OpenAI in July, with both companies accusing former employees of mishandling confidential information.
