YouTube appears to be developing an experimental social app called Tamba, featuring followers, direct messages, group chats, posts and voice replies. References to the app, including its logo and 38 custom icons, were discovered in the latest Android app code.
The “sandbox” branding suggests Tamba may be a testing environment for new social features rather than a standalone product ready for public release. It remains unclear whether these features will eventually become part of YouTube or launch as a separate app.
