Google is developing a persistent system status bar for a future Wear OS release, displaying the current time and system indicators at the top of the smartwatch screen, similar to Android phones and tablets.
The feature is currently available in a developer preview emulator, allowing developers to test how apps interact with the new interface. Apps will be able to hide the status bar when a full-screen experience is required. Although the preview runs Wear OS 7.1, Google says the feature will arrive in a later platform release rather than the initial stable version.
